How to Prepare Your Items

Guidelines for helping you prepare for the sale. It is an easy system to use and gets simpler as you get into an inputting mode…  It may look like a lot but we wanted to cover as many scenarios as we could think of to make this a successful sale for you.

Clothing: The better they look, the better they sell! Please take time to wash and iron your clothes if necessary. Please check for stains, broken zippers, torn hemlines, etc. We will be double checking at the store and will not receive any item that is not in excellent condition. Please group items together so that they will equal a value of at least $3.00 as they normally will sell better this way.

1. You will tag your items with small string hang tags you can purchase at Wal-Mart, most discount stores or office supply stores.  You find these normally in the home/office aisle (100 approximately $1.50 or so or 500 for $9.99) ~ (index cards pinned from other sales are not ideal, but will be accepted. Our barcode/sticky label will need to be added to the card) If you would like to use a tagging gun, you may and we highly recommend one if you are consigning a large number of items to save yourself time.

We will have some String tags available for purchase if needed at the sale site. We sell these tags 100 for $2 if you need more for any reason.

2.  Please use Plastic Hangers Only ~ Child Sized hangers for child sized items ~ Use children’s plastic hangers for sizes 10 and below. Use larger plastic hangers for sizes 12 and above. You may also use wire coated hangers as long as they are size appropriate. Wire hangers get tangled and smooched making it a less pleasant shopping experience. (Wire can be accepted in dire situations, please contact us to discuss before using wire)

Plastic Hangers: Adult and Child Size hangars are available for low prices at Dollar Tree or other Dollar stores, Wal-Mart and other discount chains carry them also so watch the ads for good deals. You may contact us if you have a problem finding reasonably priced hangars and we will try to help you.

3. Safety pin all sets and accessories securely together. With pants hung on the back of the shirt at the waist. Both pieces need to be viewable without unpinning them. All pants must be pinned to a hanger, not folded over, as they tend to end up on the floor.  Items sell better if hung as sets or outfits.  With the Hanger in the shape of a question mark when looking at them, Safety Pin the string that hangs from the tag to the upper right corner of the front of the garment and the hook of the hanger should be curving off to the left, so that the tag will be seen when hung.

4. IMPORTANT!  Sort your items into Boys and Girls and THEN sort by size. This will save a lot of time when putting the items out on the sales floor and keeping them in order for you. Keep your items in a pile in the same order that you are inputting them into our system. Write the number of the item and batch number (if you are inputting more than one batch) on the tag (as you input, your first item will be #1 and then keep an eye on your input # seen on the computer and write it on your tag) for easy match in placing your barcodes on the tags.  In case things get out of order you will be glad you spent the extra time to do this step.

We will print out the barcodes and descriptions that you input online and they get matched up at drop off… You now have the option of putting the sticky label/barcode that we print off onto your items at the sale site or you may pick them up early and put them on in the convenience of your home. (That is where the #’s that you write on your tags and the label matching comes into play)

***If you have a color printer you could choose to print your own labels by following the guidelines we send you to do this, but they can be tricky to print correctly and we may be able to save you precious time and money by having us print them for you.***

Keep batches of input items to 120 items or less to keep the system running smoothly for you.  Once you hit 120 simply complete that batch and start a new one. Keep the amount of items divisible by 30 since the labels print out 30 per page (and we want to do our part in saving trees and resources)

If the brand is not on our drop down list, simply write or abbreviate it into the ‘write in’ box.

5. Please allow an hour or so depending on the amount of items being dropped off at the sale site.  You will be placing your own items in the correct location at the sale site after we have reviewed them and accepted them for sale.  At drop off you may be sticking the bar-coded labels onto your tags or if you’d rather spend that time at home, you are free to arrange to pick up your labels early.

6. We currently do take all seasons clothing. All items will be checked at drop off and we reserve the right to pull unsatisfactory items from the sales floor or turn down items for sale. So please check all of your items for rips, tears, stains, broken zippers, being up to date, etc.

7. General items such as headbands, hair bows, socks, etc need to be bagged in Ziploc bags, write on the bag with a black sharpie your consignor # and price, then safety pin or tape the string of the tag onto the top right, front corner of the bag. DO NOT TAPE THE BAG SHUT. DO NOT PUT THE TAG IN THE INSIDE OF THE BAG.

** Please be sure to put good full descriptions of your item so that if the tag falls off we have better chance of rematching it up if possible.  If a tag cannot be found we cannot sell it, unless you write your consignor # and price on the bag too***
Shoes:

Shoes need to be in Like-New Condition and barely worn! They can be difficult to tag and can easily get separated so first put your consignor # and price with masking tape on the bottom of the shoes and also with a Sharpie Permanent marker place the same information on the Ziploc bag they will be going into. Then safety pin the price tag to a shoe lace or through the shoe eyelet.  Put the shoes and price tag inside the Ziploc bag.

Bedding:

Bedding is best put in the plastic bags that they came in. If not available, place in a clear plastic bag that is easily seen through. Safety pin or tape the hang tag to the outside of the bag on the right corner when looking at the item.

Blankets:

Safety pin blankets over hangers. If they are receiving blankets, best if grouped, folded, and put in Ziploc bag. Write price and consignor number with sharpie on bag in case tag gets mangled. Safety pin or tape the hang tag on right corner on the outside of the bag when looking at the item.

Toys, Furniture, Equipment: (Toys not prepared properly will be turned away)

All toys requiring batteries must be working and operational (batteries included). All toys must be cleaned, with all pieces secured tightly to the main part. If parts get lost, it will not sell.

Games must have all parts and then be taped shut. Tape string of tag to box with tag hanging off.

Puzzles must be put together and Saran Wrapped to keep the pieces together or be absolutely sure all pieces are there if in a box. Tape string of tag to box with tag hanging off.

Small toys, puzzles, books, and videos grouped together should be put in a clear Ziploc bag with tag pinned on front, but for assurance please Sharpie your consignor number and price on the bag. Please group to be sold for at least $3.00.

Large toys from Little Tykes, Fisher Price, etc. and strollers, car seats, swings and baby furniture are in high demand! When tagging large items it is best to also attach a piece of masking tape to the item with your consignor information to enable us to sell your item even if the tag comes off! We sell 95% of the large toys, furniture and baby equipment that we receive for the sale.

Due to the large number of recalls we ask that you check this website to be sure what you are selling has not been recalled. You are responsible for checking your own items before consigning them.

Loose Items:

Bibs, bottles, rattles, small baby toys, feeding supplies, etc… should be grouped together and put in a clear Ziploc bag. Tag will be pinned on front of bag, but please Sharpie your consignor number and price on the bag as well.

Car Seats:

Car seats cannot be manufactured any later than five years ago. They cannot have been recalled or in any form of accident, big or small. All seats and straps must be cleaned and secured. You will sign a waiver verifying that all of these are true of your car seat. You are responsible for your car seat. It is unethical and dangerous to sell a car seat that does not meet safety standards. Please research this before bringing it in.
